Tinnitus And Senility

Tinnitus is a phenomenon of the nervous system connected to the ear, characterized by perception of a ringing or beating sound (often perceived as sinusoidal)  with no external source. Tinnitus and senile dementia are closely interlinked with each other.

Senility, which is more commonly referred to as dementia, is characterized by a decrease in cognitive abilities. This may include person’s ability to concentrate, to recall information, and to properly judge a situation. A person with advanced stage of senility may be unsure of who he or she is. There are several causes of senility and one of them is tinnitus.

Sufferers of tinnitus often have neurological disorders and blood circulation problems. As tinnitus is a medical condition in which nervous system is also involved, if tinnitus is left untreated it will lead to early senility or senile dementia. This is one reason that Tinnitus is also called as psychological condition. Once tinnitus is diagnosed it should be treated with drugs, audio maskers and complimentary treatment.

Complimentary treatment such as relaxation, yoga, meditation, acupuncture and hypnosis should be adopted to elevate the patient’s psychological condition. If tinnitus is caused by head injury or some neurological disorder, then that particular disorder should be treated first and then tinnitus. As tinnitus is also considered as psychological disorder if patient shows signs of dementia or early senility like forgetting to recall important names and dates, disorientation to time and place, decline in judgment and decision making ability then it shouldn’t be taken lightly. If all these changes are occurring due to tinnitus, the tinnitus should be treated immediately to prevent further deterioration of patient’s mental condition.

Now a large variety of drugs and alternate therapy are available which will improve the quality of the person's life suffering from tinnitus and may also help to delay the process of senility or senile dementia.

Tinnitus-And-Vitamin-C      Tinnitus is often caused by blocked or reduced blood flow to the ears, which can happen in two ways. The tiny artery leading to the inner ear can get clogged with cholesterol, causing a kind of stroke in the ear. Loud noises can send this artery into spasm, reducing blood supply to the cochlea. In either case, an interrupted blood supply can lead to hearing problems and tinnitus. Antioxidants like vitamins C and E keep arteries open and free of plaque buildup. More..
